Journalistic forays: Fire Jumping - Summer Solstice

In Greece, a heavily religious, Christian Orthodox country, the pagan ritual of fire jumping to mark the passing of the summer solstice still survives, even within major cities. During the celebration that lasts till dawn, men and women drink wine and dance around bonfires to the sound of traditional instruments.
